Abby Foote is a professional director with extensive experience across corporate governance, finance, and risk management. Over a career spanning more than two decades, she has held leadership roles on some of New Zealand’s most prominent boards, bringing clarity, discipline, and integrity to every organisation she serves.
Abby’s expertise lies in corporate governance, audit and risk oversight, and ESG leadership, with particular strength in health, safety, and climate governance. She is widely recognised for her analytical approach, strong commercial judgment, and ability to navigate complex strategic challenges with a balanced and pragmatic mindset.
Her board experience includes director and chair roles with KMD Brands, Freightways, Christchurch City Holdings, Z Energy, and TVNZ. She has also served on the boards of the BNZ Life Insurance, the NZ Local Government Funding Agency, and Chapter Zero New Zealand, reflecting her deep commitment to responsible business and sustainable performance.
In 2023, Abby received the New Zealand Shareholders’ Association Beacon Award for her leadership and independence on governance issues — notably her work at Christchurch City Holdings and Sanford Limited, where she championed transparency, accountability, and improved strategic outcomes.
